Shard: Six "Stop being a Harajuku girl because you're not one. You're Riley. R-I-L-E-Y."
Type:Significant Neutral
What it is: Name Memory + Confrontation with identity issues.

19:25-End of "Girl Meets Popular"

IMPORTANT STUFF:
» Riley has decided not to be herself anymore and is instead dressing up as a... It's something else. Maya refers to her as a "Harajuku girl".
» Farkle is apparently encouraging this because he wants her to be "one of them". Which is why she's supposed to be helping in the spelling bee.
» MAYA IS HAVING NONE OF THIS AND SHOWS UP TO YELL AT HER.
» Via giving Cory a card that says "Harajuku" wherein both Maya and her dad try to talk her out of it.
» Riley tries desperately to figure it out but (even if she knows how to spell the word) has inner conflict, but ultimately decides to not spell it at all and return to herself. (Whatever that is)
» It proceeds to the end of the episode where she will have a knowledge that her mom was just a shark lawyer and took out her own boss in a liquidation attempt :') and now her family has half ownership of a Ukaranian bakery, where her family + Maya go to hang out after.
» "You'll always be popular with your best friend."
» Her name is Riley.

*Maya shows up and gives him a new card*
Cory: Maya, you can'--
Maya: Check out the word, Matthews.
Riley: Maya, what are you doing?
Maya: Hey. Farkle's not the only one with a master plan.
Cory: Miss Matthews. Your word is "Harajuku".
Riley: Excuse me?
Cory: Harajuku.
Riley: May I have the meaning of the word?
Cory: Oh, you don't know? Then let me tell you. It's a real neighborhood in Japan where authentic Japanese girls have created an authentic look and life for themselves. That is unique to them.
Riley: Country of origin.
Cory: Are you kiddin' me?
Riley: Can I hear it in a sentence?
Maya: Yeah. Stop pretending to be a Harajuku girl. Because you're not one. You're Riley. R-I-L-E-Y.
Cory: Five seconds Miss Matthews or you'll be eliminated.
Riley: What do you mean eliminated?
Farkle: It means you wouldn't be part of the group anymore.
Riley: ...Harajuku. Something I am n-o-t. Sorry, Farkle. It was a lovely party and your friends are really pretty cool.
Friend 1: We are?
Friend 2: We've never been called that before.
Farkle: Thanks, Riley. We feel the same way about you.
*Cory dings the bell, Riley goes to sit with Maya*
Riley: Well, I guess we're back to where popular's gonna be kinda hard. Huh?
Maya: I wouldn't know. And let's not try so hard to find out.
Riley: Heh.

AT THE BAKERY~
Riley: You know what the best thing is about being yourself?
Maya: What?
Riley: You'll always be popular with your bestfriend.
